Summer Sport & Work-Life Balance

I love sport; I’ll watch it whenever I can, wherever I can. Ideally in person, but Ultra High Definition TV coverage is a pretty good second option. There is something especially exciting about summer sporting events – those periods where international football tournaments coincide with cricket test matches, golf majors, Grand Prix, the Olympics and so on. I may even watch the Lions test matches and I don’t have the first clue about rugby.

Because of the delays caused by the events of the past 18 months, this summer is possibly going to be the most crowded ever. For those of us who work for ourselves, this represents an ideal test of the work-life balance we have been seeking.

For those of you working for larger businesses, I suggest reducing every meeting in your diary from one hour to 30 minutes. You’ll be amazed how much you can still achieve and free up time, especially for the Olympics in late July when it will be imperative to watch three different types of weightlifting and that weird track cycling event where they ride really slowly for several laps and then go like the clappers for the final two.

Enjoy it
